Jose is a traditional wood and stone carver who has been been carving for nearly fifty years. During that time he has had the privilege of taking part on some of the most exciting projects in restoration that were carried out in recent decades including Spencer House, Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Palace and Kensington Palace.

Original Designs
Jose's training and background in art has given him the ability to design bespoke, hand carved, works of art for his clients. On many occassions, he has been fortunate to have been commission with complete artistic freedom to design a wood carving piece to the meet the client's brief.

Stone & Marble Carving
In recent years Jose has also turned his talent to stone carving and marble carving, where he had the opportunity to adapt his wood carving skills to learn stone and marble carving, this included bespoke marble carving for decorative surrounds and decorative panels.

Jose has carved many original designs in wood for stone and reproduction castings. There are many examples of this in the project gallery for companies such as Selby Stone, for use in architecture, as garden ornaments or landscape features.

Reproduction
The wood carving that Jose has been fortunate to be involved in includes many items of restoration. During the restoration of Spencer House, Jose was able to reproduce some of the most beautiful carvings, including tables, mirrors, over doors and surrounds. He also reproduced many original wood carvings, including a turkey!

Restoration is the part of work, which Jose enjoys tremendously, giving him the opportunity to repair works of art or pieces of furniture tha may have been carved over hundred years ago. Jose's work is of the highest standard, to such a high standard that you will not be able to tell the difference.

Statues
Jose has been commissioned to carve many statues of people, animals, busts, crucifix and trophies. The carved wood statues all vary in size, from small wooden carved birds that can perch on the corner of a table to large freestanding eagles.

This includes carved chairs for pop stars, bed surrounds for royalty, carved portraits for comedians and bespoke full size carved snooker tables. He quite frequently works alongside Stephen C. Wood, an excellent woodworker and cabinet maker.
